Last season we featured the beautiful, Lemon Scented Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) and now we are going to show you how to cook with the scented leaves.
Perfectly matched with fish or chicken, Lemon Scented Myrtle adds a lemon flavour to desserts too, making this native species a must on your large residential block.
Ingredients:
You can use a whole fresh Chicken or equal quantities of Chicken pieces.
1 tbsp – Lemon Myrtle powder – How to harvest & prepare
1 tbsp – Garlic powder
1 tbsp – Onion powder
1 tsp – Pepper & ½ tsp Salt or to your liking
Method:
1. Mix lemon myrtle powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
2. Rub or sprinkle mixture over the surface of the chicken meat.
3. Arrange chicken onto a baking tray and place into a preheated oven at 210°C.
4. Cook whole chicken for 60-80min or pieces for 20-30 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.
5. Remove and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
