Landscape DesignerBorn into a family of green thumbs I have been blessed to run my own business within the horticulture industry for the past 20+ years, whilst raising my two gorgeous sons.  I’m a passionate Landscape Designer who values family, friends and quiet time in the garden.  I love to sing, cook and music is a passion I share with my husband of 25 years.

My parents bravely started their own business when I was a young teenager and I watched them work hard to reach their goals. I learnt so much from them and by the experience I gained from working in the family business. I started my first business when I was 25yo, seeing me learn so much more and make many mistakes too. It was when this business failed after the implementation of GST that I decided to follow my love for gardening. My great grandfather was involved in the development of the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens through the 1940’s & 50’s & my grandfather enjoyed a career with the Brisbane City Council’s – Parks & Gardens, managing a team to develop new public parks in the outer suburbs of Brisbane in the 60’s & 70’s. In addition to working full time, he also enjoyed Landscape Design & supported many with his hand drawn plans. It was my grandparents who shared their passion for the garden with me.  As a young girl I remember walking their garden and Pa would point to plants and share the Botanic names. I spent many hours in the garden with my mum who also enjoy the garden and the positive health benefits it provided.

Garden consultationIn 2001 I took a leap and established my Landscape Design Consulting business – Eco Garden Design (QLD.) Pty. Ltd..  With a passion to reach more people and take Landscape Design online, Ezyplant.com.au was developed in 2009 seeing pre-designed Garden Bed Plans available for the budget conscience home owner who’s prepared to DIY and save money.  Eco Garden Design continues to service the Moreton Bay Region in S.E.Q. with onsite consultations and landscape design plans, whilst Ezyplant.com.au provides online landscape design services nationally. The development of Ezyplant has been one of my greatest professional achievements by far. Securing patents in Australia & New Zealand and developing the various climatic regions, to enable a national reach, has seen Ezyplant support more & more homeowners with their Landscape Design needs.

It has always been important to me and my husband to be involved within our community.  I lead the Greenthumbs group at our son’s primary school for many years, establishing a community garden for teachers & students to enjoy and learn from their time within this outdoor classroom.  I get great enjoyment working with others to reap the rewards that gardening provides, whilst sharing my knowledge with those keen to learn. In 2014 I was awarded the Longman Award and the Glasshouse Mountains Volunteering Award for my work within the local community. I have also held a director’s position on the Moreton Bay Montessori Association board from 2013 to 2017, with Vice Chairman being my elected position from 2014 to 2017. I reluctantly resigned from the position on the M.B.M.A. in late 2017 to focus on my love of singing. 2019 saw my return to M.B.M.A. in a non-executive position which I still enjoy to this day.

My goal is to continue providing a professional service to homeowners throughout the Nation.  To support those on a budget, with readily available garden bed plans that they can implement themselves, just as I did when my husband and I developed our 3/4-acre property north of Brisbane.  To have a garden is a gift, a valuable space to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the natural wonders that surround us.  It’s my absolute pleasure to share my gifts with those that aspire to have a truly beautiful garden of their own.

“Gardening is the act that uses flowers and plants as paint and the soil and sky as canvas.
To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”
